These notes run in reverse chronological order.
Feb 5th
Heavy snow due from lunch, 2-3cm at LTV at 7am.
Morning was late to EUS. Was at Watford 10 mins after it was supposed to arrive, and then we stopped for about 8mins. Train manager gave lots of updates. Arrived EUS 20 mins late. Unfortunately the early train arrived only a couple of minutes before us (40 mins late, sorry) so we met up at the tube.
PM left 5 mins late, no reason given. 4.57 is due in at 6.28 so we'll see how much time we lose. Train manager announces we are coming into Tamworth as we slow down for Nuneaton.
Feb 4th
Ten minutes late to LTV and five minutes late into Euston
Feb 3rd
2nd Day of the snow. 30 mins late on the way in and ten late back home.
Feb 2nd
Lots and lots of snow. Yet the train was bang on time at LTV and had only slipped back 5 mins by EUS.
Back home not so good. The 16.57 didn't leave till 17:29 and was delayed another 30mins on the way up. So about an hour late.
Jan 29th
Slow running from Nuneaton this evening. Made worse by the announcement telling us we were just outside Tamworth when we hadn't gone more than a mile. 24 minutes late at Tamworth.
Jan 28th
Busy platform this morning, Two trains worth of busy. That was because the early train had a fault and never quite reached LTV. This of course made our nice quiet train, very busy. There were certainly no seats left in our carriage judging by the troop of people heading down the train.
Jan 21st
Clutch problems again, so on the 7:40 from LTV to Rugby at 8:18 to meet the 8:23 to EUS. Except the 8:23 was cancelled when I got there, so given my previous experience it was back on the slow train to London. At my desk at 10:15.
Finished early and caught the 16:57, with no problems, but as I happened to be passing the station at 19:15, I saw a lot of regulars cars only just leaving so one can only assume it was late.
[Update: Actually I asked my fellow commuters and was informed that it did come in ten minutes late]
Jan 19th
Well the train arrived on time, but somehow lost 17 minutes on the way down. To top it off, there were tube issues too. In of 9.17 instead of 8.45.
PM: So first we watch the normal train headily off to Manchester, then we have to wait for a new one to depart 9 minutes late. Got in 15 minutes late at 19:12, so well done on catching up.
Jan 15th
Not my usual train today, was on time on the way in. Late back.
18:43 to Wolverhampton didn't get called till 18:45 then left at 18:53. That was fun! Now scheduled to arrive at 21:12 instead of 20:53. Another 17 mins delay.
Jan 14th
Do you like the cold? Being a skier I tend to love it, but this morning I could have done without it. It was -2 on the car when I got to the station. Train eventually turned up after being stuck behind a broken down gods train, when it was an hour late. Didn't get to work till 9:45, so likely EUS arrival at 8:20-8:25.
10 mins late back.
Jan 9th
7:08 was nine minutes late to LTV. Announcement of the week, "The train is running at a reduced speed of 100mph. This is due to thick fog.". Only at Harrow and Wealdstone at 8:37...
"We arriving 32 minutes late" announced when we were still outside the station, arrived 8:57, so good estimate of a bad number.
Jan 8th
Back to LTV at 19:20, 10 minutes late.
Jan 7th

The proposed alternative was... (pause for breath)
Catch the delayed 7:08, travel to Rugby (20 mins delay, 20 mins travel).
Transfer to a local service down to Milton Keynes. (30+ mins + waiting time)
Buses would be laid on to take you to Luton (45+ mins surely)
Catch local Luton to St Pancras (30+ mins)
My estimate was 11am. I've stayed at home.
[Update: Somebody did it and informed that he got in at 10:45. However getting back was just as bad, so he didn't get home until 9pm]
